Nike National Invitational Tournament - July 9 - 13
The U17 Girls were in Chicago for the Nike National Invitational. Playing against elite U.S teams, the girls finished with a 2-3 record on the weekend. Next up for the girls is the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, QC.

Team Blog
Our journey began in Lloydminster at Lakeland College, where our assistant coach, Chris King (also known as coach "cankles"), is the head coach. Although the gym was the same temperature as the surface of the sun, our team improved leaps and bounds. The girls bonded extremely well in the residence and even though we cooked our own meals (ovens are hard to use) we made it through the week. Chris managed to get us an interview with the local TV and newspaper where we spilled the beans about our team motto. Over a long and strenuous two minutes we decided that our motto for the summer would be "TWERC". Now, I know you maybe be thinking of the popular dance move but this motto is far from that. Each letter represents a goal that our team wishes to achieve. We want to be Tenacious, Work hard, create Energy, be Resilient, and Communicate well on and off the court. All in all, we want to be the best unit that we can be.
Recently, we had the opportunity to be a part of the Nike National Invitational Tournament in Chicago. In total, we played five games against teams from different states, two of which we won. Out of the 350 teams that were present, we were one of three Canadian teams that competed. Each game posed a different challenge that we accepted with open arms. As the games progressed, our team chemistry and communication improved. We learned that in order to play to the best of our abilities we have to remain focused and disciplined during training camps and throughout games.
We continue to give 110% as we move closer to the Canada Summer Games.
