U14 Team Alberta Boys Grow Leaps and Bounds in their First Competitive Action of the Summer

On May 15th-17th at the Saville Center the U14 Team Alberta Boys took the the court for their first action of the summer.  First up on the 15th the Calgary Storm. The boys battled hard but lost a tough one 65-44. On day two the boys would play a double header, starting with a game against Peace County which they won 52-43. "We could see our boys improve defensively as they tighened up their effort at that end of the court and did not allow much in the paint. It was a smooth game that boosted our teams morale." Said Assistant Coach Chirag Mali following their first win of the summer. Later that night they took on a tough Lethbridge team and lost 56-15. Coach Chirag Mali continued - "Our boys learned the hard way how to lose, but we never gave up. Fighting a short bench, a ruckus crowd and a few injuries that plagued the team during the game, the boys never gave in and we could start seeing some leaders start to step up. We were incredibly proud of our parents and boys during this game specifically for not giving up and fighting all the elements the game of basketball can bring."

The boys finished off the tournament with another double header on the 17th playing the Calgary Storm again and while still coming up a little short, greatly improved their result from their first match up with a final score of 71-64. "Again fighting a short bench, our players all played with heart and hustle. Loose balls were all ours and we were shooting very well. While the scoreboard was not in our favor, the chemistry and teamwork has been undeniably improving with each game this weekend." said a pleased Assitant Coach Chirag Mali after the game.  Their last game of the weekend came against the Grads which they won in solid fashion 57-32. "The entire coaching staff was incredibly happy with the performance, respect and hustle of our team this weekend" concluded Coach Chirag.
